Long ago there was a young Eagle named Izzy. Izzy loved to fly over the mountains, rivers, coulees and plains of Alberta but found life to be very boring. Izzy always wondered if there was more to life then just flying and eating, but Izzy wasn’t worried because Izzy’s parents always said to trust in the Lord. To follow the words of Isaiah 40:31 which say, “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.”
So, with faith, Izzy continued to fly above the Alberta landscape in search of food and purpose! One day, while flying about the East side of Edmonton, Izzy heard loud and cheerful noise. Curious, Izzy decided to take a closer look and landed at The King’s University where Izzy found a group of different Eagles. Founded in 1992, The King’s University Eagles were known for values of athleticism, fair play and camaraderie on the field of any sport! Feeling inspired, Izzy wanted to represent all those values and be an example to others, so Izzy asked to join the King's community. The students at King’s were beyond excited to add another friend to their community and so they opened their arms to Izzy.
Like Izzy, the King’s Eagles also followed the words of Isaiah 40:31 and so Izzy took up the number 40 to further inspire others. And so, when you walk the halls of King’s or go to any Eagles games, you are sure to see Izzy, The King’s official mascot!
If you would like Izzy the Eagle to make an apperance at your childrens function, or other event, please contact the Conference Services department at The King's University.
