Over the Christmas break, the Eagles Men's and Women's Volleyball teams traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for training and exhibition matches. Each team had four intense mornings of on-court training with official matches taking place in the evenings. Time away from the court was not put to waste either as both teams could be seen doing team and individual workouts in the sand and in the weight room. In addition, evenings were spent bonding as a team, game planning and mental prepping for the second semester. With matches starting up immediately after touching back down in Edmonton, the fruits of the trip would be quickly seen. "The experience we had training and bonding in Florida was genuinely a once in a lifetime adventure. I strongly believe it played a significant role in both teams being able to sweep NAIT last weekend," says men's coach Patrick Winand. Due to the international experience, it was evident to see that both teams elevated their games to start off the second semester on a winning streak. When asked how important the Florida trip is to the Eagle's success moving forward, Women's Coach Grace Scott commented: "Team trips are an essential part of the success of our program as they serve to help build team unity, and allow our athletes to train with other elite athletes that enable us to be more competitive within our own conference". Second-semester matches continue against the University of Alberta Augustana with away matches on January 24, 2020, and home games on January 25, 2020. Tune into ACACTV or catch the action live in the Eagle's nest when the Women play at 6 and Men at 8.
