Head coach, Patrick Winand, signs two local athletes to the 2020/ 2021 recruiting class.
Seth VanderMeer comes to The King's University, no stranger to the Eagle's program as he has been to several identification camps throughout the past couple of years. Seth is a setter from Edmonton Christian and has played club since U13 with NOOKS Volleyball Club. When asked about King's, VanderMeer commented, "It's been a goal of mine since grade 10 to make the men's volleyball team. I've always admired the way King's runs their teams. With respect, yet they are competitive". VanderMeer is very excited to continue his education towards becoming a teacher, in a Christ-centred environment. He will be going into a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Social Sciences and minor in Kinesiology.
Chris Rooker, middle, comes to us from St. Francis Xavier High School in Edmonton, after playing club for FOG and NOOKS Volleyball Club. Rooker has enjoyed playing for the Rams for the past 3 years and playing club showed him what team chemistry can do. Rooker strongly believes he chose the best school for him to reach his academic and athletic goals, and is looking forward to "playing at the next level of volleyball with a team that has great chemistry and drive to win". Rooker will be taking a Bachelor of Social Sciences and then plans to go into the Education after degree program.
"Both these athletes bring their unique skillset and potential to our program, but more importantly, the character that truly reflects our mission at King's," commented coach Winand. "I strongly believe that Chris and Seth are two of the most coachable athletes in Alberta's class of 2020. I am excited to work with them in the fall".
Welcome to The King's University!
