Todd Van Driel has been involved with the Eagles program since 2009 first as a player, coming from Smithers, British Columbia. Van Driel acted as assistant coach from 2012-2017. Coach Van Driel took over as head coach in Fall 2017, and has been involved with all of the men's programs conference championship berths to date, beginning with the first berth in the 2015-16 season. Since that season, the program has appeared in all but one post season, and earning 2 Bronze medals since 2022-2023. In addition to his head coach role, coach Van Driel works administratively on campus as the Athletics Manager at King's. Van Driel uses this on campus presence to his advantage, keeping in touch with his athletes daily, and provide the support they need for their athletics and academics.

Van Driel puts in the same effort in his coaching, as he does in his athletics. A graduate of King’s, Van Driel received his Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and minoring in Physical Education. During this time, Van Driel played four seasons of ACAC soccer in which he was selected to the ACAC All-Conference team three times. He also competed in ACAC Volleyball for two of those years and was awarded the “King’s Male Athlete of the Year” in 2012. Van Driel continues to pursue excellence with his team, and aims to move the program into a position on par with those programs of decades of history. Thus far, since his takeover, the Eagles program has set program records in goal scoring, and goals against. Coach Van Driel believes strongly in creating an environment that promotes growth, responsibility, accountability and enjoyment. He believes building a culture of safety and connection is the foundation to a programs success--empowering athletes to be leaders on all walks of life. The team strives for excellence on the soccer pitch but equally as important are the relationships that student-athletes develop during their time at TKU. He aims to allow his players to leave TKU better people, as they move into the working world, or onto the next level of athletics.
