Mahdi Ahmadi is from Vancouver, BC, and is entering his third year at The King’s University, where he is majoring in business. He has been competing in badminton professionally for 10 years. Some of his accomplishments include being invited to Iran national team camps, ranked 1st in U23 men’s singles Canada/Mixed Doubles, and winning gold in the 2022 Prairie men’s singles and mixed doubles events.
In the 2024 season, Mahdi was crowned the CCAA Mixed Doubles National Champion and brought King’s University their first-ever national gold title, the ACAC Mixed Doubles Champion, the ACAC Player of the Year, ACAC Rookie of the Year, and the CCAA Player of the Year. At The King’s University athletic banquet in 2024, he was also recognized as both the Male Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and badminton MVP.
In the 2025 season, he successfully defended his title as the ACAC Mixed Doubles Champion, earned the title of CCAA National Champion, and was also recognized as a CCAA All-Canadian. At the 2025 King’s University athletic banquet, Mahdi was further honored with the Male Player of the Year, and the Badminton Leadership Award.
Mahdi is excited to continue his journey at King’s University both academically and athletically.
