WSOC Head Coach Mark Sandle Post-game vs. NAIT

Q: Who were the players of the game/players that stood out to you?
A: The team as a whole played well front to back. I don't always like picking out individuals, but our keeper—Dani Kieftenbeld—had a really good game.

Q: How do you feel the team did overall?
A: We started and finished slowly. We were caught a bit cold early on, and we tired a little at the end of the game. When you are physically tired, your concentration tends to waver a little, and so we gave up a couple of sloppy goals at the end. But between the 20 and the 75 minutes we played very well. We competed hard, and the team played to the shape I wanted overall. The intensity was much better than last week.

Q: How do you feel you did coaching?
A: That's hard when you lose 6-0. Obviously there are areas to improve upon. We need to keep the ball better. And we need to transition to attack quicker and get more players into the box. I wished I had moved to two up top at the end of the game just to see if it made any difference. I guess I'll give myself 6/10.

Q: What was your game plan? Do you feel as if it was executed?
A: We wanted to sit deep, frustrate them, and catch them on the counter-attack. We did ok, but we have work to do on shape when we don't have the ball, and on keeping possession when we do.
